My office was not a boardroom or a site container.
It was the Ātea itself — the open space where kōrero is tested, where challenge is expected, and where truth is spoken without shelter.

In Ngāpuhi whakaaro, the ātea is the domain of Tūmatauenga — atua of challenge, courage, and confrontation. It is not a place of comfort. It is a place where you stand exposed: to the elements, to scrutiny, and to the weight of whakapapa and expectation.

That project tested me deeply.
It challenged my body, my mind, and my spirit.
There were moments of real hardship — pressure, responsibility, and personal cost.

And yet, it became a career highlight.

It was a place of growth.
A place of learning.
A place where I came to understand what it truly means to work in kaupapa‑rich environments — where tikanga, process, accountability, and people all matter.
